NEUMARKT MOVES UP THREE PLACES WITH WIN IN KLAGENFURT

HC Neumarkt got off a great start with Alex Sullmann opening scoring on power play after only 75 seconds. The visitors were the dominant team but Klagenfurt fought hard to put up some resistance. And after 13 minutes the Carinthians used a two men advantage when Philipp Wilhelmer found the back of the net. The game was tied at one after the first but Neumarkt came out hard again, creating some good chances. In the 24th minute the Wild Goose came close but only hit the post. They pressed for another lead but KAC did well defensively and both goalies kept a clean sheet in the middle frame. The fans saw a thrilling third period. With ten minutes to go Florian Kurath turned the game around but soon later Markus Simonazzi skated down the ice and passed to Michael Sullmann, who litt he lamp – 2:2. 17-year-old Julian Pusnik restored Klagenfurt’s lead in his first Sky Alps Hockey League game but once again Neumarkt found a prompt answer: Ondrej Nedved finished a solo attempt for anothre equalizer. Now both teams tried to get the decisive goal and after the goal of Thomas Dechel was ripped from its moorings, the referees awarded a penalty shot to Neumarkt. HCN top scorer Linus Lundström took advantage and scored for a 4:3 away win.
