New players at Cortina and Kitzbühel

EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel signed David Lidström (SWE) and Edgar Protcenko (LTU) for their defense. Forward Diego Iori (ITA) switched from Gherdeina to Cortina. Plus: Contract extension at EC Bregenzerwald.

New defensemen at Kitzbühel
David Lidström (SWE) and Edgar Protcenko (LTU) are new defensemen at EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. Both players come to Austria for the first time.
David Lidström brings a lot of experience to Kitzbühel. The 29 years old, strong defenseman from Västeras in Sweden made between 2005/06 and 2015/16 already 539 Allsvenskan-games, in which he scored 118 points (31 goals and 87 Assists). Last season David Lidström spend his first year abroad at Esbjerg Energy and became right away Champion with the team in Denmark. With Esbjerg Lidström also participated in the Champions Hockey League 2016/17.
New player at the Tyrolean city is also Edgar Protcenko. The 20-years old defenseman is one of the biggest hockey-talents from Lithuania. In his youth Protcenko played inter alia for the U18 of Iserlohn in Germany (2013/14) or overseas for the South Muskoka Shield in the GMHL (2015/16). Last season the youngster defended for Energija Elektrenai in the second highest League in Belarus, scoring 14 points (6G/8A) from 33 games. Besides he made another ten games for the clubs second team in his home country Lithuania, scoring seven points (3G/4A). This year the big defenseman also celebrated his debut for the A-National Team at the World Championship Division IB and was there with five points (1G/4A) the best defenseman of the tournament.
 
„El Diablo“ new at Cortina
Diego Iori is the first new offensive player at Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina Hafro! The hard working winger, whose nickname is „El Diablo“, spend the past season with League-opponent HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, scoring 28 points (16G/12A) from 34 games. Before the 31-years old, strong Italian Forward played in Italy already successfully for HC Fassa Falcons, Milano and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 (Italian Champion 2015).
 
Youngster stays at Bregenzerwald
With Philipp Pöschmann another Austrian hockey-talent stays at EC Bregenzerwald. The Youngster is Austrian U20 National Team player and won 2016 already the Erste Bank Young Stars League with EC Red Bull Salzburg. Last season the 20 years old Center made 28 games for the „Wälder“ in the SKY Alps Hockey League and scored four points (1G/3A). Besides the Power-Forward played 2016/17 twice for the Dornbirn Bulldogs in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. Also next season the Youngster profits from the cooperation between the two Austrian clubs and has the possibility to play for both teams in two, different Leagues.
