Vienna Capitals Sign NHL-Experienced Defenseman Nelson Nogier
The Vienna Capitals have bolstered their blue line with the signing of Canadian defenseman Nelson Nogier, who agreed to a two-year contract in Vienna. The 28-year-old brings international experience from the NHL, American Hockey League, KHL, and most recently the DEL, and is expected to play a key role in Vienna’s defense. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Nogier was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 2014 and has appeared in ten NHL games and over 260 AHL contests throughout his career. In 2022, the 6'3'' right-shot defenseman moved to the KHL, where he made 117 appearances over two seasons with Barys Astana. Last season, he suited up for the Straubing Tigers in the DEL and helped the team reach the final of the prestigious Spengler Cup.

HC TIWAG Innsbruck Adds Canadian Scoring Duo from Denmark
HC TIWAG Innsbruck has strengthened its offense by signing Canadian forwards Darien Craighead and Troy Lajeunesse. Both players join the win2day ICE Hockey League from Danish powerhouse Aalborg Pirates.
Craighead (78 points) and Lajeunesse (66 points) were among the top scorers in the Danish league last season and led the Pirates in scoring. Together, they helped Aalborg to a third-place finish in the Danish championship.
After completing his NCAA career, Craighead gained professional experience in the ECHL, Norway, and the EIHL before moving to Aalborg in 2023. Lajeunesse, meanwhile, played in the OHL and ECHL before making the jump to Europe in 2023, joining the Pirates after a stint with the Fife Flyers.

Contract Extensions in Salzburg and Klagenfurt
EC Red Bull Salzburg has extended its collaboration with defenseman Dennis Robertson, who will enter his fourth season with the club. The 33-year-old Canadian has been a consistent and reliable presence on Salzburg’s blue line, recording 36 points in 48 league games last season.

EC-KAC has also confirmed that Clemens Unterweger will remain with the team for the 2025/26 season. The 33-year-old defenseman has been part of the Red Jackets' roster since 2018 and led the league last season with a +42 plus/minus rating. In 419 games for Austria’s record champions, Unterweger has collected 161 points and celebrated two championship titles. Internationally, he continues to be a key player for Austria and will compete in his fifth IIHF World Championship this May.
