Just 155 days after Gherdeina crowned themselves AHL champions for the first time with a victory over Merano in Game 4 of the final, the two teams will meet again to open the 2026/27 season. This will be the 12th meeting between the teams at the MeranArena in league history. The visitors hold a narrow advantage, having won six of the previous encounters compared to five victories for the hosts.

Semi-finalists begin at home
Zell am See and KHL Sisak were eliminated in the semi-finals last season. Both teams will begin the new campaign at home. The Pinzgau side, who even defeated two win2day ICE Hockey League teams during the pre-season, will face Asiago. Since the Italians returned to the league, Zell am See have won four of the five meetings between the teams.

Sisak host HD Jesenice. The teams faced each other twice during the pre-season, with the Slovenian side — who among others were able to sign Robert Sabolić — winning both games. In the Alps Hockey League, however, the Croatians have won all three of their previous home games against Jesenice.

Austrian and South Tyrolean teams face off
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel open their season against the Rittner Buam SkyAlps. After both teams were eliminated in the pre-playoffs last season, they will be aiming higher this time around. The Tyroleans have won three of the teams’ last four meetings.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors, winners of last season’s regular season, travel to the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers on the opening day. During the pre-season, the South Tyrolean side recorded victories over league rivals Gherdeina and Sterzing.
