Hanus arrives in Graz following an outstanding career in North American junior and university hockey. The 25-year-old defenseman recorded 121 points in 100 games over four seasons at Mount Royal University and was named both USports Player of the Year and Defenseman of the Year. Prior to that, he captained the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League and collected 80 points during the 2021/22 campaign.

“We were able to bring a very exciting defenseman to Graz,” said sports director Philipp Pinter. “His offensive instincts are outstanding, and his skating ability is world-class.”

Caps sign Steffler
The Vienna Capitals also strengthened their defensive unit by signing Devin Steffler to a two-year contract. The 25-year-old spent the past two seasons with HC TIWAG Innsbruck and has already accumulated 130 appearances in the ICE Hockey League.

Born in Durango, Colorado, Steffler holds both Austrian and American citizenship. After developing with Okanagan HC Europe and spending two seasons with the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL, he returned to Austria and joined the EC Red Bull Salzburg organization. Most recently, the right-shot defenseman helped EK Die Zeller Eisbären capture the Alps Hockey League title and made his debut for the Austrian national team earlier this year. He has since earned six international caps.

Cole Schneider stays in Bolzano
Meanwhile, Bolzano confirmed the extension of forward Cole Schneider. The 35-year-old American led the Foxes in scoring during his first ICE Hockey League season, recording 54 points in 51 games while also finishing as the club’s top assist provider.

Schneider arrived in Bolzano in 2025 after winning the Norwegian championship with Storhamar. Before moving to Europe, he enjoyed a lengthy and successful North American career, registering 589 points in 805 American Hockey League games and making five NHL appearances with the Buffalo Sabres. His experience and leadership are expected to remain key assets for the Foxes heading into the new season.
