Nick Pastujov represented his home country at the 2016 U18 World Championships, which ended with his team winning the bronze medal, after spending two years in the US federation's training programme. He joined the very traditional and successful University of Michigan Wolverines for his four-year college career before turning pro in 2020. He spent most of his first three seasons with the ECHL side Kansas City Mavericks. He was promoted to the AHL four times for a total of 26 games. The 2023-24 season was Nick Pastujov's first in Europe: The forward, who can play both centre and winger, played all 56 games of the season for the Pioneers Vorarlberg and gained 51 points (13 goals, 38 assists).

Nick Pastujov: "We played ten games against each other last season, so I was able to get to know the EC-KAC's style of play very well. The club has a great and long history of success, which results in high expectations, which also appeals to me and I am honoured to be given a role in achieving the next goals. I also have very positive memories of last year's five away games with the crowd in Klagenfurt - the arena was always crowded, it will be great to play in front of these fans. As far as my objectives for this commitment are concerned, one thing is clear: the EC-KAC plays ice hockey to win titles and I am convinced that we will play a season in which we will put ourselves in a position towards the playoffs from which we have a good chance of winning the championship."

Emilio Romig stays in Linz
The Steinbach Black Wings have extended the contract with winger Emilio Romig for another three seasons. The 31-year-old became one of the absolute top performers in the past season and finally played his way into the hearts of the Linz fans in his third year at the Untere Donaulände. With 14 goals and 24 assists, the Vienna native was the sixth-best Austrian scorer in the win2day ICE Hockey League in the regular season.

Emilio Romig: "A three-year contract means a lot of appreciation and trust for me. I'm really looking forward to it. The environment we have created in Linz is extremely important for personal success. I'm grateful that I've been able to take another step in my career and I'm doing everything I can to develop even further. I really want to win here. I want the championship title."
