After an impressive 662 appearances in the win2day ICE Hockey League, it’s the end of an era: Niki Hartl has announced his retirement from professional hockey. The Salzburg native spent twelve seasons with the Vienna Capitals – highlighted by the 2016/17 championship title – and two seasons with EC VSV. In total, he recorded 97 goals and 108 assists in the ICE Hockey League.

A long-time fan favorite of the Vienna Capitals, Niki Hartl has hung up his skates. The 33-year-old played a total of 662 games in the win2day ICE Hockey League – 558 of them wearing the Capitals jersey. From 2012 to 2024, he was a key part of the Caps’ offense and played a major role during one of the most successful eras in the club’s history. The crowning achievement: the league championship in the 2016/17 season.

In addition to his long stint in Vienna, Hartl also played two seasons with EC VSV at the start of his career. Over the course of his career, the forward tallied 97 goals, 108 assists – and countless emotional moments on the ice.
