Nikolaus Kraus played for one season in the EC Red Bull Salzburg youth program at the age of 15. He then continued his way with the Cologne Sharks. Kraus made his professional debut in the 2015/16 season with the EC-KAC, where he played a total of nine seasons and won the win2day ICE Hockey League twice with the team. Last season, Kraus scored 27 points in 58 games and reached the league final with the EC-KAC.

After center Andrew Rowe and defenseman Nash Nienhuis, Kraus is the third newcomer for the upcoming season.

Nikolaus Kraus: "I'm extremely excited about the new challenge and I'm coming to Salzburg to win a title. I'm looking forward to the entire organization and my teammates, as I've known many of them since I was a child and am good friends with them. But I'm especially looking forward to the hockey and a successful time on the ice. I'm a physical and fast player who plays and loves modern ice hockey - and that's exactly what I want to show in Salzburg."
