On Saturday eight games will be played in Alps Hockey League with Bregenzerwald hosting Lustenau in the first Vorarlberg derby. In addition the South Tirolean rivals Rittner Buam and Pustertal meet at Klobenstein. In Sunday's lone game champion Ljubljana welcomes VEU Feldkirch.

The game day will be started in Jesenice. After beating Linz 4:0 on the road, the Slovenes host Fassa who earned one point in their opener against Asiago. In the previous three AHL seasons, Fassa did not win a game in Jesenice. All matches were at least decided +3 for the hosts.

The league's new arrivals from Linz welcome Kitzbühel. After losing 4:0 to Jesenice last weekend, the Upper Austrians are still waiting for their first AHL goal. The Tirolese gained a 2:1 win against Gherdeina, though, with new goalie Stefan Ridderwall posting 21 saves.

After getting a derby win against Zell am See, the Red Bulls lost to KAC II on Thursday. In this game Salzburg conceded two shorthander. Sterzing have the maximum points, though. After two 3:2 wins, the Broncos are top of the league. In their last two games at Volksgarten they earned four points.

Both Bregenzerwald and Lustenau are still waiting for their first win this season. While the hosts lost the game for the Austrian championship against Feldkirch on Thursday (does not count for Alps Hockey League!), the lions drew the short straw in Sterzing. Dominic and Lucas Haberl will play their first game for Lustenau against their former club.

Klagenfurt have been the biggest surprise of the season. After getting a win in Ljubljana, the Carinthians also beat Salzburg on the road. In their home opener they face Feldkirch who earned a shutout win against Pustertal last week. There were road wins in the two encounters last season.

On Thuirsday Rittner Buam won the game with second-most goals in AHL history (10:5 against Asiago), having five points out of two matches now. It does not look so bright for Pustertal as the runners-up of last season last their opener in Feldkirch 0:3. In preseason Ritten beat the wolves in Alperia Cup, 5:2.

Cortina got a 7:2 win at Bregenzerwald last weeend with scoring three power play goals. Now they welcome Zell am See in their home opener. The Salzburg side lost their season debut against Salzburg but have good memories of last season as the won both matches against Cortina (1x overtime, 1x shootout).

Gherdeina and Asiago both want to start a winning streak on Saturday. While the hosts suffered a tight defeat in Kitzbühel last weekend, Asiago fell to Ritten on Thursday. In January 2019 the met twice within six days and there were just a few goals scored (1:0 Gherdeina, 2:1 Asiago).

After palying in Vienna on Friday, the champions host Feldkirch on Sunday. The Vorarlberg side has a tough schedule early in the season. After beating Pustertal in their AHL opener, they also won the match for the Austrian championship against Bregenzerwald on Thursday. Now they play Klagenfurt and Ljubljana at the weekend.
