In the Alps Hockey League nine games are scheduled in the next four days. With the EC-KAC Future Team and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan two teams are challenged twice. The top games of the coming days are the quarterfinal rematch of last season between the Rittner Buam SkyAlps and EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, as well as the matches between S.G. Cortina Hafro Hockey and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice against the EHC Lustenau. Watch all games in the livestream on www.valcome.tv.

Tue, 26.09.2023, 19:00: EC-KAC Future Team - Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan

The new week in the Alps Hockey League starts on Tuesday with the match EC-KAC Future Team against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Both teams were victorious last weekend. The Future Team kept the upper hand against the EC Bregenzerwald with 5:2 and celebrated their first win of the season. The Broncos also won 5:2 against Merano and still have the maximum points after two games. However, Vipiteno played their first two games of the season at home. On Tuesday they are challenged for the first time away from home. Last season they won 4:2 in Klagenfurt. The Future Team, in turn, celebrated a 5:2 victory in Vipiteno. Both teams are already in action again on Thursday. The Broncos will meet the Red Bull Hockey Juniors at home, the Future Team will play at Fassa.

The HC Gherdeina valgardena.it had a very bad start to the season, with three defeats from three games and a goal difference of 6:20. On Saturday they were defeated at home by Zell am See clearly with 1:9. Only two days earlier they lost again in front of the home crowd against Unterland with 4:8. The EC Bregenzerwald on the other hand could already celebrate two victories from three games. Against Val Gardena, however, the ECB had no chance in both duels last season. At home, the Vorarlberg team lost with 0:6. Away, they conceded a 1:6 defeat.

On Thursday the Rittner Buam SkyAlps will meet the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. Both teams started the season with two wins and one loss after shootout and overtime respectively. Ritten lost with 4:5-SO to Cortina on Sunday, despite an interim 3:0 lead. Kitzbühel conceded a 3:4-OT defeat in Lustenau. Last season there was the duel Ritten against Kitzbühel in the quarterfinals. The Buam finally prevailed 4:2 in a hard-fought series. Kitzbühel led 2:1 in the meantime.

The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers are still without a defeat and loss of points this season and are therefore at the top of the table with nine points. The Steel Wings Linz AG has one point after three games. Unterland has so far prevailed against the EC-KAC Future Team (7:1), Gherdeina (8:4) and Celje (3:2). The Steel Wings won the only point against Zell am See. With 18 goals already scored this season, Unterland currently has the best offense in the league. With newcomer Aleksi Käyrä, a Cavaliers player is also currently at the top of the point scorer's chart (8 points). The 22-year-old Finn has always scored at least two points per game. The duel between Unterland and the Steel Wings has taken place twice so far in the Alps Hockey League. The South Tyrolean team kept the upper hand in both duels.

For the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, Thursday's match against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors will be the second encounter this week. Already on Tuesday the Broncos will meet the EC-KAC Future Team away from home. Before the duel with the Klagenfurt team, the South Tyroleans have two wins from two games. Last year's semifinalist Red Bull Hockey Juniors had a weak start to the season. After three games, the Young Bulls are still waiting for their first point. Against Bregenzerwald, Jesenice as well as Kitzbühel they conceded a defeat after regular playing time. The Salzburg team also failed to score against Sterzing last season. They conceded a 0:2 defeat away from home and were beaten 1:3 at home.

Runner-up S.G. Cortina Hafro and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären will meet for the top clash on Thursday. The Polar Bears are currently in second place in the standings with eight out of a possible nine points. Only against the Steel Wings Linz they lost up a point. Cortina has six of nine possible points, but has not yet lost a game after regular playing time. Last weekend, the Italians were able to turn a 0:3 deficit against Ritten into a 5:4-SO victory. Zell am See was clearly victorious in Gherdeina with 9:1. Both teams are already showing extreme strength in the offensive. While the Austrians have already scored 16 goals, the Italians have thirteen. In the defense, however, Zell am See is clearly more stable, with only six goals conceded, compared to twelve goals conceded for Cortina. The two teams last faced each other on November 26th of last year. At that time, Cortina narrowly prevailed in Zell am See with 3:2. In Cortina, almost exactly a year ago, the current Italian champions celebrated an equally narrow 3:2 victory.

After three games league newcomer HK RST Pellet Celje is still without a win. But the Slovenians have already on Thursday at the HC Meran/o Pircher the next chance for the first success. The South Tyroleans, on the other hand, started their third AHL season with two losses. On Saturday they finally celebrated their first win at home against Fassa, despite trailing 0:3 in the meantime (5:4-SO).

The match SHC Fassa Falcons against the EC-KAC Future Team will conclude the matchday on Thursday. For the Future Team it will be already the second game this week. On Tuesday they play against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Before the match with the Broncos, Fassa and the Future Team have three points in the standings. The Falcons from Italy only lost to Lustenau after regular playing time with 1:4. They celebrated a 3:2-OT win against runner-up Cortina to open the season. On Saturday, they lost to Meran 4:5-SO despite leading 3:0 in the meantime. Against the Future Team, Fassa has had the upper hand seven times in the last ten duels. Last season, both teams celebrated one home victory each.

In the only Friday match, reigning champion HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice will face the EHC Lustenau. Both teams started the new season with two wins and one loss. Jesenice lost to Cortina with 5:6 in the final rematch, Lustenau lost to Zell am See with 3:4 in the season opener. In addition, the Vorarlberg team had to go into overtime against Kitzbühel, which they won. With four goals this season, last season's top goal scorer Blaz Tomazevic is already back at the top of the scoring charts early in the season with four goals scored. So far, the forward has scored at least one goal in every game. On the Lustenau side, no player has yet scored more than two goals. The two teams faced each other twice last season. In both duels, Jesenice clearly retained the upper hand.
