HK SŽ Olimpija comes into the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League on a winning run. That's because in recent years the club, founded in 2004, has been in the Alps Hockey League, where it was champion in 2019 and 2021. With the Slovenians, some well-known players also return to the league. For example Aleš Mušič, who with 187 points is the best scorer in the still young club history of his team. The team is led by captain Žiga Pance, who brings the most experience with 566 league games. After his time with the former Olimpija Ljubljana, he was under contract with HCB Südtirol Alperia, EC GRAND Immo VSV, EC-KAC and the Dornbirn Bulldogs. The winger scored the Championship-winning goal himself when he won the title with Bolzano in the 2013/14 season. "I’m looking forward to this year, it’s a new chapter. We already started our training camp a week ago and I’m very happy that our entire team is together. We have a very young team, but we have a lot of energy and talent. We are working very hard every single day, that’s gonna help during the season," Pance reports.

Head coach Mitja Šivic and his team want to further ignite the hockey euphoria in the Hala Tivoli.

On Wednesday, 11 August, Olimpija will play the first preseason game. In Jesenice, the Dragons will meet MAC Budapest from Hungary. Two days later, the away match at Hydro Fehérvár AV19 will be the first test with an ICE rival. After that, Ljubljana will take part in a tournament in Slovakia.
