HK SZ Olimpija will become Olimpija Ljubljana. The Slovenians will start the coming season with this new name, and Canadian businessman Alexandre Lefebvre was also presented as a strategic partner at the press conference on Friday.

“My connection to Ljubljana and Slovenia is through my family. We've visited Slovenia multiple times, and we've grown fond of it. As a Canadian, I'm also a fervent hockey enthusiast," remarked Alexandre Lefebvre. "With our partnership with the leading Slovenian hockey club, we aim to further develop the sport in Ljubljana and Slovenia, the homeland of my wife's parents. In doing so, we seek to contribute to the local community and society, even though we may not reside in the same country. We're keen to enhance the hockey narrative in Ljubljana, strengthen the competitiveness of the professional team, and bolster the development of young hockey talents. We're motivated and committed," added Lefebvre, who has already been appointed as the club's Vice President.

"Over the past seven seasons, we've consistently progressed both in terms of results and organizationally. In the senior competition, we've secured the Alps Hockey League title twice, won four national championships, and claimed the Slovenian Cup four times. We've secured Slovenia and Ljubljana's place in the ICE Hockey League and became the first hockey team in Slovenia's history to compete in the Champions Hockey League. Today marks another significant step forward for the club's progress and the development of hockey in Ljubljana and Slovenia," stated club president Miha Butara.
