Csanad Erdely (#36) of Hydro Fehervar AV19, time around 55:30 was involved in an incident deemed as Boarding (IIHF Rule 41). The video evidence was sent to the win2day ICE Hockey League PSC, which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 - 'Careless'.

Saturday night in Salzburg, Fehervar forward #36 Csanad Erdely was involved in an incident, deemed as Boarding, on Salzburg forward, #5 Thomas Raffl, resulting in no apparent injury. There was no penalty call on the ice.

As the video shows, Fehervar is in possession of the puck, deep in the Fehervar D’Zone, during a line change for both Erdely and Raffl. The skating path of Raffl to his players bench, is a means in which Raffl crosses in front of Erdely. It is apparent that for no determined reason, Erdely is also tracking Raffl as he skates cross ice and in response, raises his stick and delivers a shove to the back of Raffl, causing him to propel dangerously into the boards. This is Boarding.

It is important to note, this is not a situation where Raffl puts himself into a vulnerable position, nor should he be expecting a push. While the Players Safety Committee (PSC) does acknowledge that the push Erdely uses is not overly forceful and minimal contact can and does occur throughout a game as players cross for line changes, the fact that Erdely did raise his stick and did deliver a backside push to Raffl a dangerous distance from the boards, does warrant supplementary discipline.

The push action Erdely delivered is deemed avoidable and with no real threat or cause, there is no apparent reason for Erdely to perform such an action.

To summarize:
1) This is deemed ‘Boarding’
2) Occurred a dangerous distance from the boards
3) Backside push is deemed avoidable

The ICE Hockey League Department of Player Safety has suspended Csanad Erdely 1 game and fined 200.00 euros.
