One game suspension for Gerrit Böhs

Gerrit Böhs (#23) of EC-KAC Future Team, time 54:36, was involved in an incident deemed as Unsportsmanlike Conduct IIHF Rule 75. Based on the video evidence, it is determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline- Category 1– ‘Careless’.

Tuesday night, September 22, in Asiago, Klagenfurt D’Man #23 Gerrit Böhs was involved in an incident deemed as Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Asiago forward #9 Ryan Valentini.

During a stoppage in play, Valentini and Böhs are positioned near the center-line. As the players are moving into position, Böhs approaches Valentini from behind and uses his stick to make a poke-checking motion towards the back of Valentini's knee.

This is Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
The video shows that the incident occurs during a stoppage in play. Böhs approaches Valentini from behind and directs his stick towards the back of Valentini’s knee area, resulting in unnecessary contact with the opponent. The use of the stick in this manner is not a legitimate hockey action and cannot be justified under any circumstances. The action is avoidable and serves no legitimate purpose within the game. Using the stick against an opponent from behind during a stoppage in play creates an unnecessary and avoidable risk of contact with the opponent. Although no apparent injury results from the contact, the use of the stick in this manner demonstrates a careless disregard for the safety of the opponent.

As a result, and effective immediately, the Alps Hockey League Department of Player Safety has suspended Gerrit Böhs for 1 game.
