One game suspension for Lukas Pohl (SWL)

Lukas Pohl (#11) of Steel Wings Linz, time approximately 42:10, made contact with an opponent deemed as Butt-ending IIHF Rule 121. The video evidence was sent to the AHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 – ‘Careless’.

According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the AHL PSC, player Lukas Pohl (#11) of Steel Wings Linz, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 121 – Butt-ending.

On February 6th in Linz, in incident occurred #11 Lukas Pohl of Steel Wings Linz and #88 Maximilian Sölva HC Gherdeina which is deemed Butt-ending. The incident was sent to the AHL PSC and determined supplementary discipline is required.

As the video shows, off an offensive zone face-off, Lukas Pohl and Maximilian Sölva, both being center men, are engaged with each other immediately following the face-off. With Linz in possession of the puck, Pohl made a choice, which had nothing to do with the play, to use his stick in an illegal and dangerous manner. Immediately following the face off, in which Pohl had his top hand lowered on his stick for the face off, Pohl did not raise his top hand to eliminate the butt end of the stick from being the contact point. Instead, he used the end of his stick, for no apparent reason, to make contact directly in the chest area of Sölva.

Effective immediately, Lukas Pohl (#11) of Steel Wings Linz is suspended for 1 game.
