Markus Nordlund of HCB Alperia Südtirol, time approximately 48:30 was involved in an incident deemed as Charging (IIHF Rule 122). The video evidence was sent to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 - 'Careless'.

According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC, Markus Nordlund (#40) of HCB Alperia Südtirol, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 122 – Charging.

On March15th in Bolzano, an incident occurred involving (#40) Markus Nordlund, deemed charging. The incident was sent to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC and determined supplementary discipline is required under a Category 1 - Careless.

The reason for the determination of supplementary discipline, is the fact Markus Nordlund had no regard for the puck. Markus Nordlund loaded up (visible by his stick pattern before contact) and instead of staying plain, elevated. The initial contact did have shoulder to head contact, but not the primary reason for supplementary discipline. The distance traveled, with no regard for the puck, to make an excessive check, with elevation up and into the opposing player, deemed charging, is the primary reason for supplementary discipline.

Additionally, the right elbow was tucked upon contact, but extended up and out through contact, due to the force and elevation. It is deemed a predatory type check, which means a player took advantage of a situation with additional force through a means deemed illegal. The check is not deemed unsuspecting. The puck pass up and off the wall from a KAC defender to Stefan Geier is a high risk pass, putting Stefan Geier in what might appear, an unsuspecting position.

The check in an illegal manner, is deemed avoidable. Markus Nordlund, must have a regard for the puck, stay plain (not elevating) and checking to separate the puck from the puck carrier (not an attempt to separate the puck carrier from the game).

Effective immediately, Markus Nordlund (#40) of HCB Alperia Südtirol is suspended for 1 game and fined
250.00 Euros.
