In another thrilling quarter-final duel, Graz dominated proceedings for long stretches. After 18 goalless minutes, Rok Tičar put the home side ahead and Casey Bailey made it 2:0 just twelve seconds before the first period break.

It got even more exciting in the second period. The Black Wings first reduced the deficit to 1:2 (2.') through Shawn St-Amant in the powerplay, before Brian Lebler equalized with his 401st league goal (33.) in his 100th playoff game. But the joy was short-lived: Casey Bailey scored his brace in the 35th minute to put Graz back in front. This time, however, Linz scored the final goal of the third period - Greg Moro tied the score at 3:3 21 seconds before the buzzer.

In the final period, Paul Huber put Graz ahead again in the 44th minute, but the visitors had another answer. Niklas Würschl equalized in the 54th minute to make it 4:4. This was the third time this series had gone into overtime - and the second time the 99ers won. Michael Schiechl scored the decisive goal after 69 minutes and 27 seconds to make it 5:4. It was the center's eleventh goal of the season and his second in the quarter-final series. On Tuesday, the team from Graz has its first chance in Linz to secure a place in the semi-finals for the first time since 2019.
