Overtime goalscorer Jasa Jenko: “We gave it our all for 70 minutes, and luckily we scored”

The quarter-final opener between SIJ Acroni Jesenice and S.G. Cortina Hafro was a tough one. In the new edition of the 2023 final, the home side from Slovenia prevailed 2:1 in overtime. Jasa Jenko was the match-winner, scoring the game-winner in the 71st minute.

It was the expected duel at eye level between Jesenice and Cortina - with the better end for the home side from Slovenia. Although Luca Barnabo (18.) gave Cortina the lead, Jesenice struck back in the 36th minute through Tjas Lescnicar and equalized. The game was only decided in overtime when Jasa Jenko redeemed the 800 fans in Jesenice in the 71st minute.

"That's playoff hockey. We knew Cortina is a tough opponent. We gave it our all for 70 minutes, and luckily we scored and now we move on”, said Jasa Jenko, for whom it was his ninth goal of the season.
The “best-of-7” series continues on Tuesday in Cortina. The 24-year-old Slovenian is clear about the team´s strategy: “We'll play the same way. We'll give 110 percent, stick to our plan, and do everything we can to win the series and reach the semi-finals."
