Nick Petersen has been part of the EC-KAC since 2018. From the very beginning, the winger advanced to a key player for the Klagenfurt team. In his first season with the club, Petersen was the team's top scorer with 78 points, contributing very significantly to the 2019 title win. He repeated the same two years later when he contributed 73 points to the 2021 championship and was also voted the league's Most Valuable Player of the playoffs.

"Nick Petersen elevates our offensive game to a higher level, bringing skills to our team that few players in our league possess. Accordingly, he is enriching for our team, so we agreed very quickly at the decision-making level not to use the exit option and thus continue to bind him to us. After an unfortunately injury-plagued 2021/22 season for him, we are convinced that we will be able to rely on a stable Nick Petersen at a high level again in the coming season. We are looking forward to that and our fans can look forward to that as well," said General Manager Oliver Pilloni.

Nick Petersen on the contract extension: "I'm very excited to return to Klagenfurt and play my fifth year with the KAC. After winning two titles in a row, last season was a disappointing one for all of us, especially the fans. We all have high expectations of ourselves and in the upcoming season we want to fulfill them again. Like my teammates, I'm eager to make next year another successful one for our organization."
