The EC-KAC defeated the EC GRAND Immo VSV in the derby with 9:1. Man of the match in the highest derby win since 1988 was Nick Petersen with five goals. For the KAC it was already the 14th derby home win in a row. With league leader EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Moser Medical Graz99ers, the hottest teams in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League celebrated their sixth win in a row. The HC Pustertal turned the game around against the HK SZ Olimpija in the closing minutes. In addition, the HCB Südtirol Alperia and the HC Tesla Orli Znojmo were victorious in the 31st round.
With a clear 9:1 home win against the EC GRAND Immo VSV, the EC-KAC underlined its dominant position in the derbies. For the KAC it was the fifth derby win in a row. In their home arena it was already the 14th success over the "Eagles" in a row. Man of the match was Nick Petersen with five goals. For the Canadian it was his first goals after a long injury break. In addition, Johannes Bischofberger scored twice. In total, the Klagenfurt team scored no less than six goals in the special team, against the best penalty killing in the league to date.
Graz and Salzburg with 6th win in a row
The Moser Medical Graz99ers were victorious at the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The clear 6:0 away win was already the sixth win in a row for the Styrians, who are seventh in the table. The Black Wings, on the other hand, are still bottom of the table and could only win one of their past nine games. The 99ers were able to finally decide the game in their favor in the last period, after they were "only" 2:0 in front after 40 minutes. Man of the match was besides Michael Boivin, who scored twice, goalkeeper Christian Engstrand. The Swede celebrated a shutout for the first time in the fourth game for the 99ers. In total, he conceded only five goals so far.
League leader EC Red Bull Salzburg also picked up their sixth win in a row. The Red Bulls defeated the HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie with 4:1 and also won the second game of the seasonagaisnt the Styrians. Tim Harnisch's 2:0 was Salzburg's 100th goal of the season, making them the first team to break the 100-goal mark. In addition to Harnisch, Peter Hochkofler, Mario Huber and Peter Schneider scored. For Schneider, the goal-scoring streak extended to three games. On the HCI side, only Tim McGauley scored. The Sharks are in eighth place in the standings.
Bolzano wins in Dornbirn
The HCB Südtirol Alperia prevailed with 4:2 at the Dornbirn Bulldogs, picking up their first win after previously losing two in a row. Dornbirn recently experienced an upswing with two wins, but suffered their seventh defeat from the past ten games. For long stretches, the game was even. After 20 minutes, the score was 1:1, and no goals followed in the middle period. It was not until the final period that Bolzano, which had only two power plays and scored in both, was able to pull away to 3:1. The Bulldogs still managed to score to get one back. In the end, however, it was Angelo Miceli who scored the final decision in favor of the fifth-placed team in the table.
Pustertal turns game in final minutes around
In the duel of the two league newcomers, the HC Pustertal won against the HK SZ Olimpija with 3:2. Until two and a half minutes before the end of the game, the guests from Slovenia were in front. However, goals from Emil Kristensen (58.) and Matthias Mantingern (59.) enabled the South Tyroleans to turn the game around and celebrate their first win in the second duel of the season with Ljubljana. Bruneck is still in eleventh place in the table.
In tenth place is the HC Tesla Orli Znojmo, which was successful against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 with 6:3. The Swede Tor Immo was the only player to score twice. For the 27-year-old it were the goals two and three in the jersey of the Czechs. At the beginning of the season Immo played for the iClinic Bratislava Capitals. The Hungarians, who have won only two of their past five games, slipped back to the fourth place in the standings.
