Phil Pietroniro of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey got suspended for two games because he made contact with an opponent deemed as a Check to the Head or Neck

Phil Pietroniro (#37) of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, time 20:32, made contact with an opponent deemed as a Check to the Head or Neck, IIHF Rule 124. The video evidence was sent to the AHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 – ‘Careless’ – insufficientattentionor thought to avoid harm or error. Liable to happen as a consequence of, by intending to affectan opponent through a reactionary or accidental motion or the incident is deemed careless causing negligence.

According to the Arbitratorand having considered the video evidence and ruling of the AHL PSC, player Phil Pietroniro (#37) of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 124 – Checking to the Head or Neck.

On Saturday, October 19th, (#37) Phil Pietroniro of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, was involved in an incident deemed as a check to the head.
With the opposing player skating in his defensive corner to retrieve a lose puck, he was aware of the attacking player, (#37) Phil Pietroniro dropping down from the point to make a possible body check. The reason for supplementary discipline, is Phil Pietroniro made contact to the head area of the opposing player. As the video shows, Phil Pietroniro turned his body 90* to make a shoulder check. With no regard for the puck and a regard to make a body check only, the oneness is on Phil Pietroniro to stay plain (not elevate) and make shoulder to body contact,avoiding the head area of the opposing player. Instead,Phil Pietroniro elevated his right shoulder up and into the head area of opposing player. The opposing player, with a regard for the puck, had no way to protect or prepare for a check in which his head was protected.

Effectiveimmediately, Phil Pietroniro (#37) is suspended for 1 game for the CTH and 1 game as a repeat offender,for a total of a 2 game suspension.
