Pioneers Vorarlberg surprise in Fehérvár

The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg went into the International Break with a surprising 4:2 win at third-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The team from Feldkirch lost 2:3/OT in Vienna on Friday. With 24 points, the Pioneers are currently in eighth place in the win2day ICE Hockey League. Fehérvár will play its last game before the November break tomorrow, Sunday at 17:30 at home against the spusu Vienna Capitals.

In the 18th round, the 2541 spectators in Székesfehérvár saw an even opening phase. Although the home side, who suffered only their second defeat in their last eight games, had the slightly better chances, they failed to take the lead. And so it was that the visitors from Feldkirch took the lead 26 seconds before the end of the first period. Luka Maver deflected an shot from Christian Bull. The Hungarians then tried everything again and even managed to score the 2:3 just three minutes later. Markus Phillips scored in an empty-net situation. After that the equalizer was even in the air, but Gleason Fournier was sent to the penalty box in the 58th minute. AVS head coach David Kiss took goalkeeper Olivier Roy off the ice again, but this time Cedric Lacroix scored to make it 4:2 for the Pioneers in the powerplay. For the Vorarlberg team it was only their second win in their sixth ICE duel with Fehérvár. In the first duel of the season, the Hungarians clearly won with 6:3 in Feldkirch.
