On Wednesday the playoffs of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga starts - with a milestone. Because the first goal of the evening will be the 3000th playoff goal of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga history. At 19:15, three of the four games start, in which the top four of the Pick Round have home right.   • A new overtime rule begins with the playoffs. In non-decision games, the number of field players will be reduced after 20 minutes to three players per team.

  • The regular season MVP, Jean Philippe Lamoureux (RBS), is by far the goalkeeper with the highest save percentage. The Canadian saved 94.6% of all shots.

  • The first quarter-final between the EC Red Bull Salzburg and the EC Panaceo VSV will be streamed live in the Servus Hockey Night from 19:00.
  • Salzburg finished the Pick Round in second place and picked the winner of the Qualification Round, the VSV last Saturday.
  • RBS and VSV meet for the fifth time in the postseason. The Carinthians celebrated their last championship in the season 2005/06 thanks to a 4:2 final victory over the Bulls. Just a year later, Salzburg retaliated in the final (4:1) and became champion of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga for the first time. Salzburg prevailed in the last three duels and subsequently also became champion.
  • This season the Bulls won three out of four games against VSV. Two games, however, only after penalty shootout.
  • In this quarter-final duel, the best power play (RBS - 23.5%) meets the third best power play in the league (VSV - 23.4%).

  • Sky Sport Austria 1 HD will broadcast the only quarter-final duel between two teams from the Pick Round live from 19:00.
  • While Vienna has won the last three games and finished the Pick Round in third place, the 99ers have been waiting for a win for five games. Accordingly, they finished the pick round in fifth and last place.
  • It is only the third meeting between these two teams in the playoffs of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. The Viennese prevailed both times. In the season 2008/09 in game seven of the quarterfinals, in the season 2010/11 again in the quarterfinals, but clearly with 4:0.
  • In six meetings this season, both teams won three duels. The recent two games in the Pick Round, however, were won by the Capitals.
  • With 83.8%, the last year's finalist from Vienna has the third best penalty killing in the league. G99 is in eighth place (81.9%).

  • For the first time in the history of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, the EC-KAC and the EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz meet in the quarterfinals. In the previous three duels in the postseason, the KAC prevailed twice in the semifinals and then became champion. The only success of Linz over the Carinthians in the playoffs was in the final of the season 2011/12, which Linz won with 4:1.
  • The EC-KAC finished the Pick Round in fourth place. The red jackets could only win two out of eight games. Linz played in the Qualification Round and finished second behind the VSV (six wins, four defeats).
  • The defending champion from Klagenfurt has not won any of his last three home games. In both home games against Linz in the regular season, they lost too. In Linz they won one of the two games, but only after shootout.
  • In ten of the last 13 play-off series with KAC participation, the team that won game one prevailed.
  • The EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz has the best first row in the league. Dragan Umicevic leads the top scorer ranking with 65 points (13G/52A). Brian Lebler is in third place with 59 points (30G/29A). Rick Schofield follows in fourth place with 57 points (28G/29A). Together they scored 181 points.

  • HCB Südtirol Alperia will face the HC Orli Znojmo in the only quarter-final duel between two non-Austrian teams. This game starts 30 minutes later than the remaining three games.
  • Bolzano played an extremely strong Pick Round and won seven games in a row. Only in the first game they lost against Salzburg. Znojmo finished the Qualification Round in third place and qualified as eighth and last team for the playoffs.
  • Not only in general, but especially in front of the home crowd, Bozen is in a strong shape. They have won the last seven home games. The last home defeat was at January 10th.
  • The South Tyroleans won all four games against Znojmo this season. They scored 21 goals, more than any other team. Against the four teams that were in the Pick Round with them, they scored significantly fewer goals in six duels.
  • It is the first encounter in the playoffs between this two teams in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. Bolzano's greatest success was winning the championship in the seasons 2013/14 and 2017/18. The highlight of Znojmo was the final qualification in the season 2015/16, in which they lost against the EC Red Bull Salzburg with 2:4.
  • The goalkeeper from HCB Südtirol Alperia, Leland Irving, has a save percentage of 92.7% and is in second place in the Goaltending Statistics.
