Some teams of the Alps Hockey League have played a couple of preseason games during the last week. They played seven games between Tuesday and Thursday. On the upcoming weekend ten more games will follow. Red Bull Hockey Juniors have added Bastian Eckl to their roster. S.G. Cortina Hafro and Hockey Milano Rossoblu presented some contract extensions.
Bastian Eckl boosts the roster of Red Bull Hockey Juniors
Red Bull Hockey Juniors have strengthened their roster with forward Bastian Eckl. The 17-year old German player was developed in Rosenheim and moved to Mannheim early in his career. After winning the German youth league, Eckl played one season in Canada. Back in Europe, he was still part of the Red Bulls participating at Junior Club World Cup in Sochi, where he appeared five times and scored two goals.
Contract extensions in Cortina and Milano
S.G. Cortina Hafro has given trainee Giacomo Pompanin a spot in the first team. The 19-year old Italian played predominantly for Cortinas youth teams in the last years. In 2016/17 he showed up in two Alps Hocke League games. Further they extended their roster with the young talents Simone Dantone, Noah Zardini Lacedelli, Giovanni Toffoli and Francesco Taufer. AHL-newbie Hockey Milano Rossoblu have given some more credit to Andrea Fadani. The 19-year old Defender had already a big part in Milanos first team last year.
Last week preseason games in the Alps Hockey League
On Tuesday three Austrian clubs of the Alps Hockey League have tested again. EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau suffered a 1:5-defeat against Swiss side HC Ajoie. After being down by two early in the game, Lustenau scored his first goal. Later, the Swiss side increased the lead with two more goals. League-rival EC Bregenzerwald lost 3:5 to GCK Lions (SUI), after leading 2:0 on an early stage of the game. EK Die Zeller Eisbären played Czech side HC Slovan Usti nad Labem twice during the week. They lost 2:3 after shootout in the first game and 1:6 a day later. HC Pustertal Wölfe played at Erste Bank Eishockey Liga champion HCB Südtirol Alperia. The “wolves” suffered a close 1:2-defeat at Eiswelle. EC-KAC II celebrated his fourth win in the preseason so far. The Carinthians won 3:2 against the farm team of Vienna Capitals. Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan booked a close 2:1 win after shootout against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice in the only league battle in this week.

Ten more preseason games will be played on the upcoming weekend. All three AHL-sides placed in Vorarlberg will face opponents from Switzerland. VEU Feldkirch has two games on their schedule within two days. Champion Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey will participate at a tournament in Budapest, having their games on Saturday and Sunday. EC-KAC II, HK SZ Olimpija and HC Pustertal Wölfe will have some preseason activity too. Rittner Buam vs. HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will be the only league battle this weekend.
