Preseason: Vienna and Villach win ICE internal duels

Nine teams of the win2day ICE Hockey League played a preseason game on Friday evening, with the spusu Vienna Capitals and EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV defeating an ICE rival, while the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and Moser Medical Graz99ers each picked up shutout victories.

The spusu Vienna Capitals scored their first win of the running preseason with a 5-2 victory at EC-KAC. Ex-Klagenfurt player Rok Ticar put the Viennese in the lead on the power play (13./PP1). The Caps cleared it with three goals in the last period. For Klagenfurt it was the second defeat in the current preseason.

In the second ICE internal duel, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV defeated Hydro Fehérvár AV19 7-4 thanks to a strong offensive performance. Three goals were scored by Anthony Luciani. Villach thus reached the final at the 19th International Summer Hockey League Tournament in Bled (SLO). There the "Adler" will meet HK SZ Olimpija, which defeated HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice (SLO) 4-1 in the second semifinal, on Saturday at 8.00 pm. Miha Zajc contributed two goals. Fehérvár will therefore play Jesenice already at 4.30 pm.

Shutouts for Graz and Linz
The Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated their first win of the preparation at HK Nitra (SVK). After remaining scoreless in their first two preseason games, the Styrians prevailed 3-0 this time. Gustav Bouramman (16./PP1) scored the 99ers' first goal and also the second goal by Viksten (27./PP1) was scored on powerplay. Lars Volden impressed with his first shutout for Graz.

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz also remained without conceding a goal, winning 5-0 at home against EC Bad Nauheim (GER) to pick up their third preseason win in a row. Thomas Höneckl gave a flawless performance in goal for the Upper Austrians.

Defeats for South Tyrolean clubs
Meanwhile, the two South Tyrolean ICE teams suffered defeats. HCB Südtirol Alperia lost 0-2 to the Straubing Tigers (GER) and will now have to continue the Südtirol Summer Classic, which takes place in Bolzano, on Sunday, August 28th in the game for third place. For the HC Pustertal Wölfe there was also a defeat against a DEL representative at the start of the Vinschgau Cup in Latsch, as the "Wölfe" lost 2-5 against ERC Ingolstadt (GER). For both ICE teams it was the first defeat in the current preseason.
