Two days before the season opener, the press conference in Vienna has rung in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga 2017-18 campaign. After the announcement of Erste Bank’s contract extension for three more years, the most important developments were presented.

After Vienna Capitals finishing their stunning palyoff run on April, 7, 2017, the press conference has rung in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga 2017-18 campaign on Wednesday. With the great development and success in the past, Erste Bank announced the contract extension for three more years. It shows that long-term cooperations can progess positively as the promotion of young players is an improtant point for Erste Bank as chairman Stefan Dörfler confirms: "With Erste Bank Juniors League and Erste Bank Young Star League we are also the main sponsor of two youth leagues where new generations of players are produced".

On Friday the twelve teams enter the new season. There are few rule adaptions as overtime will be played 3 on 3 for five minutes in regular season. The mode remains the same with 324 games being played only in regular season.
