Release from 20.02.2020
The HC Pustertal remains in the Master Round without losing any points and extends its lead in the table. The same applies to the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in Qualification Round A, who have come another step closer to the playoff ticket. Especially because the EC KAC II celebrated a victory against Salzburg's fiercest pursuer Lustenau. In Qualification Round B, SHC Fassa Falcons confirmed the top of the table for the time being but finished two games more than chaser Feldkirch.
Pustertal remains undefeated
HC Pustertal also won the top match against HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana and is the only team to remain unbeaten in the Pick Round. The teams met in the first period on equal terms. Andreas Hofer brought the home team into the lead in the 15th minute. In the second period it took only 40 seconds until the wolves doubled. Pustertal acted sovereign in the defense and finally came to the shutout. The advantage of the wolves over the first chaser is now five points.
Ritten climbs to second place
The Rittner Buam celebrated a 2-0 victory over HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. Although the hosts started the match bitingly, the Buam acted more efficiently. Matthew Lane set the score 1-0 in the sixth minute. Jesenice could not overcome Kevin Lindskoug in the second section either - Ritten, on the other hand, increased the score to 2-0. The Slovenians pushed forward again in the final section. The defensive section of the Buam presented itself hard-nosed and took the lead over time.
Cortina turns game against Asiago
S.G. Cortina Hafro celebrated a 2-1 win over Migross Supermercati Asiago and drew level in the standings with HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. After a goalless third at the start, Asiago needed only twelve seconds to take the lead. Cortina pressed for the equalizer throughout the second period, but failed to make up for it with Frederic Cloutier. In the final section, however, the home side were more successful. Two powerplay goals within four minutes gave Cortina the lead. An emptynetter finally made the final score of 3:1.
Qualification Round A
Red Bull Hockey Juniors continue series
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors continue their winning streak and remain the only undefeated team in Qualifying Round A. The Juniors got the better start and take the lead in the seventh minute. But also the guests from Val Gardena were dangerous and were able to equalize a little later. From this point on the home side acted much more efficiently. Until the end of the second period Salzburg fought for a 4:1 lead. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors finally won 5:2. Robert Arrak made his mark on the game with two goals and an assist.
Klagenfurt celebrates first victory in Qualification Round
The EC KA2 celebrated its first victory against EHC Lustenau on Thursday. After the defeat EHC Lustenau lost the connection to leader Salzburg. The KAC went into this match with reinforcements. Steven Strong, Marco Richter and Philipp Kreuzer - former players of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga - continue their season in the Alps Hockey League. However, another debutant became the "hero" of the game. The only 17-year-old debutant Finn van Ee scored twice in his first Alps Hockey League encounter. The young talent took the lead in both the first and second period. Valentin Hammerle added another two goals in the final period. The Klagenfurt team finally won 5:2.
Qualification Round B
Falcons back at the top
The SHC Fassa Falcons won 4:2 against EK Zeller Eisbären and confirmed the lead in the Qualification Round A for the time being (note that Feldkirch played two games more than his pursuer). The Falcons took an early lead, but then the guests from Zell hit back twice. Fassa, however, went into the second period with a lot of momentum and scored three goals for the preliminary decision. The Eisbären scored in the final section but were unable to force the overitme.
Kitzbühel defeats Bregenzerwald
The EC Stadtwerke Kitzbühel defeated the EC Bregenzerwald 5:3, while the hosts from Tyrol started the match in a focused manner and took numerous chances. In the 14th minute, the ECB keeper had to grab behind him for the first time. In the second period, the home side raised early before the guests scored the second goal. But Kitzbühel did not let this unsettle them and extended their lead to 4-1. Bregenzerwald started a final offensive and reduced the score to 3:4 but were unable to equalize. Kitzbühel finally celebrated a 5:3 success.
