Only 24 hours after the home victory over Graz, the spusu Vienna Capitals welcomed HC Pustertal on Saturday. While it was already the third appearance this week for the Viennese, the South Tyroleans had five game-free days last. The Capitals survived an early shorthanded period and then had more of the game, but without putting the guests in trouble for a longer period of time. Pustertal then proved to be very efficient on power play and even took a 2:0 lead: first, defenseman Žiga Pavlin (14th) scored on his debut, 58 seconds before the end of the period Anthony Bardaro increased.

After the restart, the Caps put on the pressure, but James Sheppard's supposed goal was disallowed due to goalie interference. Shortly after, Pustertal forward Olivier Archambault missed a penalty shot. In the 30th minute the Viennese got on the scoreboard, when Sheppard netted from the slot. Then it went blow for blow with two goals within two minutes: First Archambault restored the two-goal lead after a counterattack, then Ben Finkelstein outwitted goalie Sholl in the short corner. Pustertal's goalkeeper was able to distinguish himself a few times in the following minutes and kept the narrow lead for the team from Brunico after 40 minutes. In the final third, the South Tyroleans concentrated on defense, but the Caps did not offer much in the way of danger. In the final minutes, the home side put on the pressure once again, but no goal was scored. Thus, HC Pustertal celebrated the first victory in the eighth league duel with Vienna. The South Tyrolean team, which is still in tenth place, also consolidated its pre-playoff position. Head coach Dave Barr's side remains in sixth place.
