In recent years, the club, which was founded in 1954, has been active in the Alps Hockey League, where it was runner-up in 2019. Now, HC Pustertal's preparations for their first season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League are in full swing. The Wolves will play their premiere season in a new stadium. The "Arena Bruneck / Brunico" with a capacity of 3,100 seats is currently being completed. For this reason, the league newcomers are still preparing in the old Rienzstadion, where a hundred visitors watched the training kick-off on Thursday.

Luciano Basile was able to call on the full squad for the first session, with the exception of Reece Willcox, Zach Budish (still waiting for entry papers) and Johan Harju. Due to the Olympic qualification, however, the head coach will soon have to do without the Italian national players Matthias Mantinger, Raphael Andergassen, Anthony Bardaro, Daniel Glira, Ivan Deluca and Tommaso Traversa.

Tomas Sholl will be between the posts for the Wolves next season.

The preseason farewell tour will also include four games at the old Rienzstadion. The first game is the clash with HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice from the Alps Hockey League on Saturday, 14 August at 8pm. The following weekend, the South Tyroleans will take part in a preparation tournament in Poprad, Slovakia. Subsequently, HCP will test twice against league rivals EC GRAND Immo VSV and HC TIWAG Innsbruck - the Sharks. In addition, a duel with AHL representative Cortina is on the agenda.
