Pustertal wins intra-league test game against Ljubljana

HC Falkensteiner Pustertal celebrated a successful home debut in the Intercable Arena on Thursday with a 4–1 preseason victory over Olimpija Ljubljana. Meanwhile, Milano Hockey Club suffered a narrow defeat against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies at the WellCard Trophy in Klagenfurt despite leading on multiple occasions.

In the intra-league test match, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal marked their home debut against Ljubljana with an impressive performance. Lipon put the hosts ahead after ten minutes, and shortly thereafter Purdeller converted a rebound to make it 2–0. Early in the second period, Glira finished precisely to extend the lead to 3–0. Kirichenko pulled one back for the visitors, and the score remained 3–1 until the closing stages. Purdeller then sealed the final result with an empty-net goal.

Milan squanders lead
Milano Hockey Club lost their second game at the WellCard Trophy in Klagenfurt as well. In a penalty-heavy contest, the Italians fell 5–6 to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. After a scoreless first period, Milan took the lead through a brace from Houde and Pietroniro. Following a temporary response from the Canadians, Grant restored the two-goal advantage. Although Saskatchewan equalized, McKegg made it 4–3 before the second intermission. In the final period, another Huskies goal was answered by Hannoun to put Milan ahead again. However, the University of Saskatchewan proved more efficient and turned the game in their favor before the end of regulation time.
