Linz and Graz have already faced each other on the ice for more than 434 minutes in the quarter-final series. For the fifth time in a row, the duel between the two teams went into overtime on Friday, equalling a record in European ice hockey. The Upper Austrians scored the game-winning goal in the 66th minute through Graham Knott and won for the first time in Styria after more than two years.

Linz forward Shawn St-Amant, who scored yesterday's remarkable equaliser to make it 3:3, is the top goal scorer in the playoffs so far with six goals. Graham Knott (BWL) and Kevin Roy (G99) are the top scorers for their teams with eight points each in the quarter-final games so far.

Since the quarter-final pick was introduced 13 years ago (one season had to end prematurely before the quarter-final series were completed), the fourth-placed team has only advanced to the semi-finals after the regular season three times. The three promotions have taken place in the last four seasons. This will be the 22nd Game 7 since the league was newly founded in 2000/2001, and the Steinbach Black Wings Linz have a very strong record with four wins out of five game 7 decisions - all the statistical information can be found here.
