Cortina returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 5:1 home victory against Klagenfurt. The AHL runners-up are currently in seventh place, while their upcoming opponents from Val Gardena are in 14th. The "Furie" have recently shown an upward trend, but were beaten in Sterzing on Sunday despite a comeback. Val Gardena's best results so far have been away from home, where they have picked up 15 of their 23 points. Cortina won the first season meeting 2:0. Goalie Hayden Hawkey celebrated his first of two shutouts. Head coach Giorgio De Bettin's team currently has the second-best defence in the league.
