Only 24 hours after the overtime defeat against league leaders Bolzano, the EC Red Bull Salzburg continued with a home game against the Dornbirn Bulldogs. Devin Brosseau and Yanni Kaldis each played their last game for the team from Vorarlberg - as the duo is returning to the Edmonton Oilers organisation. An open exchange of blows quickly developed, in which the hosts took the lead with a shorthanded marker: After eight games without a goal before, Mario Huber slipped away from the visitors's defense and scored dryly. Shortly before the break, the Red Bulls were also unlucky when Dominique Heinrich hit the crossbar. The game changed in the middle period, when Dornbirn had many chances. The Bulldogs, however, were always stopped by Salzburg goalie Jean-Philippe Lamoureux - he distinguished himself with a "big save" against Kevin Macierzynski, among other things. Also in the final period Dornbirn looked for the direct way to the goal, but often had no luck in finishing. On the other side Thoma Raffl increased the lead in the 49th minute with his twelfth goal of the season after a great pass from John Hughes. The Bulldogs did not give up yet and again had good opportunities. But Lamoureux earned his 39th league shutout - the second of the season. With their fourth win of the season against the Vorarlberg side, the Red Bulls extended their lead over sixth place to five points. For the DEC it was the first defeat after three wins.
