EC Red Bull Salzburg made pressure from the start in Quarterfinal number 5, but Ryan Duncan, Matthias Trattnig, Thomas Raffl and Daniel Welser missed good chances for an early lead. In minute ten the Moser Medical Graz99ers threatend from Matt Pelech, but Bernhard Starkbaum was ready. Then just moments later Brett Olson scored the lead for the Champion from a rebound on the other side. But in minute 19 the Styrians turned the game with two goals within twelve seconds! Alexander Feichtner and Oliver Setzinger were successful. In period 2 the Red Bulls made much pressure (19:4-shots), but 99ers-goalie Sebastian Dahm stopped several shots. Finally in minute 36 Brett Olson beat Dahm with a rebound and equalized the score – 2:2. And just moments later Raphael Herburger came close to score the lead for the Mozart Citizens, but the puck just hit the post. Late in the period Graz was on Power Play, but Evan Brophey could not score from a good chance. The best chance to get the lead again came for the Styrians in minute 50, but Michael Boivin could not take advantage from a Penaltyshot. This was punished by the Champion moments later: Thomas Raffl finished a nice combination over Ryan Duncan and Dominique Heinrich for the 3:2 Game Winner. The 99ers tried hart to score the 3:3, but Kurtis McLean, Oliver Setzinger and Thomas Pöck were stopped by goalie Bernhard Starkbaum. EC Red Bull Salzburg went through to the semifinals, while for Graz the season is over.

In the semifinals Salzburg will face EC-KAC, that has extended the contract with Thomas Koch. The other clash is UPC Vienna Capitals vs. HCB Südtirol Alperia.
