Rick Nasheim was the linchpin of the team that brought the very first championship title in the club's history to Upper Austria in 2003. A name that has been inseparable from the upswing in Linz ice hockey since the beginning of the millennium.

As a player, Rick Nasheim spent 2000-2003 in Linz and made a lasting mark on Linz ice hockey during that time, and not just because of his 172 scoring points. An absolute fan favorite, the former forward quickly played his way into the hearts of the fans and thus also under the roof of the Linz AG Eisarena. For many years, his number 16 has hung above the home ice rink.

These services of the now 59-year-old left a lasting impression on the Linzers even after that. After his active career, the Austro-Canadian started his coaching career in Linz and served as assistant coach for a total of six seasons from 2004 to 2010, playing a key role in squad planning and team composition. Alongside Kim Collins, Nasheim led the Upper Austrians to the runner-up championship in 2009/10 in one of the most legendary postseasons in Austrian ice hockey to date.

Afterwards, Nasheim created an extensive network during his stints with ERC Ingolstadt in the DEL, the Vienna Capitals and most recently five seasons with Dornbirner EC. With immediate effect, Rick Nasheim will again make this network available to the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and strengthen the Linz team with his ice hockey know-how for at least the next two seasons in the position of head scout.

Rick Nasheim: "It's not a bit of an exaggeration when I say I'm coming home. Linz and the Black Wings are much more than a job for me, it's a matter of heart. It's a huge joy and honor for me to be able to work again for the club that has given me so much over so many years. Together with everyone at the club, we will work hard and tirelessly every day for the success of the Black Wings."
