After the 1:3 opening loss on Thursday, the Rittner Buam SkyAlps are already under pressure against last year's finalist HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. Both teams are already facing each other for the third time in the semifinals of the Alps Hockey League and for the third time Jesenice started the series with a win. However, Ritten has always won game two so far. In the Master Round, the South Tyroleans were able to win against the Slovenians already narrowly with 2:1/SO. In the Regular Season Phase 1 Jesenice kept the upper hand in Klobenstein clearly with 4:1. Overall, the winner of Regular Season Phase 1 was able to win all of the past six games and only conceded five goals.

Also in the second semifinal, the home team prevailed at the opener, but only in overtime. Philipp Krening scored the decision in favor of the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the 73rd minute. It was the second goal of the evening for the 18-year-old German. He also scored to make it 1:1 in the meantime. For the Young Bulls, it was their third win in their fourth duel of the season and their sixth win in a row overall. For S.G. Cortina, Thursday's loss was their first after previously winning three straight. They won all three games at home in the quarterfinal series against Lustenau as well.
