On Tuesday, the Rittner Buam SkyAlps won 3:1 at home, giving the Alps Hockey League premiere champions a 3:0 lead in the “best-of-7 series” against S.G Cortina and the first chance to win their second title on Thursday. The opening game of the final also ended 3:1 for Ritten, and they celebrated a narrow 5:4/OT victory in Cortina. Across all competitions, the South Tyroleans have won the last six games against the Italians. Max Coatta is currently in top form, being the only player to score a goal in all three finals and only failing to score five times in the playoffs so far. In an exclusive interview, the American spoke about his current excellent form, among other things, and the 29-year-old also looked ahead to final four. >> To the interview << On the Cortina side, Tim Doherty scored a goal for the first time in the current series on Tuesday. With 21 points, the 28-year-old American is the playoff top scorer. Gregory DiTomaso, a teammate of Doherty, follows in second place.

Should Ritten win on Thursday, the "Buam" would be crowned champions for the first time since the 2016/17 AHL premiere season. It would be Cortina's second defeat in a row in the finals. Last season, they lost 4:2 to Jesenice. It would also be only the second final series in which not both teams win at least one game. Olimpija beat Asiago 3:0 in the 2021 final. A “best-of-five” series was played back then.
