In the top match on Thursday, third-placed Rittner Buam SkyAlps will take on leaders Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. The two teams are currently separated by six points, with Kitzbühel having already played one game more than Ritten. Last week, the “Eagles” picked up wins six and seven in the Alps Hockey League. The Tyroleans suffered their only defeat of the season in Celje. Ritten, on the other hand, were in action in the Continental Cup last week. With three wins from three games, they made it through to the next round. Among others, the South Tyroleans defeated league rivals Jesenice (5:3) and Sisak (10:2). Ritten have won all of their last six games in all competitions. They have always been victorious against Kitzbühel in the past five games.

Second-placed EK Die Zeller Eisbären, who have won their last four games, play at tenth-placed Hockey Unterland Cavaliers on Thursday. The South Tyroleans have ten points and are seven points behind Zell am See. Although they have been beaten in five of eight games so far this season, six of the eight encounters have ended with just one goal difference, with five games even going into overtime. However, after a bad start to the season with four defeats in a row, the team from Neumarkt have won three of their last four games. They already faced Zell am See at the start of the season. Back then, the “Polar Bears” won 3:1 in front of their home crowd. The Salzburg side have only won one game away from home so far, while Unterland are still waiting for their first win at home after regulation.

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan host the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in the South Tyrolean derby on Thursday. The two teams will face each other for the first time since December 3, 2023. Back then, Sterzing narrowly won 6:5 at home. However, Val Gardena is currently in better form. The “Furie” have recently celebrated two wins in a row, always picking up at least one point in their last five games, and are in fourth place in the table with 14 points. The Broncos are only twelfth in the table, but are only six points behind Val Gardena. However, they have only won one of their last seven games. Sterzing only managed to win at home against Celje in the season opener. Val Gardena have also only won once away from home.

In the fourth Thursday game, SIJ Acroni Jesenice will face HC Meran/o Pircher. The Slovenians were in action in the Continental Cup in Ritten last week. Due to their defeat against the hosts, the Slovenians missed out on advancing to the next round. They won the other two games, including against league rivals Sisak (3:1). In the Alps Hockey League, Jesenice have so far only been beaten by local rivals Celje. They have kept the upper hand in the other five games, which puts them in sixth place with twelve points. Merano are ninth in the table, just one point behind Jesenice, but have already played two games more. The South Tyroleans have been waiting five games for a win after regulation. They have won three of their eight AHL duels against Jesenice so far.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors will face HK RST Pellet Celje in the only Friday game. The Juniors are already in action this week on Wednesday against Cortina. Before the game against the Italians, they are in fifth place in the table with 14 points. Celje will play their first game of the week on Friday. The Slovenians have won four of their last five games and are eighth in the table with eleven points. In their first match of the season against the Juniors on September 28, they were narrowly beaten 2:3. It was the third win in the Alps Hockey League for Salzburg against Celje in the third encounter.
