Ritten takes the lead in the table and clinches playoff ticket

The Rittner Buam SkyAlps beat the Red Bull Hockey Juniors 7:1 in the only Sunday game of the Alps Hockey League, meaning that the South Tyroleans not only took the lead in the table but also became the first team to secure a play-off spot.

With 64 points, defending champions Ritten have been leading the table since Sunday evening and are now two points ahead of their closest rivals Jesenice. The “Buam” are therefore certain of a place in the top five and are the first team to qualify for the Master Round and the play-offs. In the clear 7:1 home win against Red Bull Hockey Juniors, everything was still tied after the first period (1:1). In the middle period, the “Buam” pulled away to 3:1 before scoring four more goals in the final period to make things clear. Ethan Szypula was the only player to score twice.
