The hosts were without Alexander Eisatz, who got injured in game 3, and long-term injured Andreas Alber and Markus Spinell. Right from the beginning the fans saw an exciting game with Asiago's Anthony Nigro only hitting the post after three minutes. The hosts became dangerous when Andreas Lutz and Oscar Ahlström came close to open the scoring but Frederic Cloutier stopped them.  Soon later Asiago's goalie made a huge save on Julian Kostner. While MVP Anthony Bardaro's shot went wide, Tommaso Traversa missed the best chance late in the period. Early in the middle frame Victor Ahlström wasted another great opportunity. There were just a few highlights and both goalies kept a clean sheet for 40 minutes. In the 44th minute Phil Pietroniro had to go to the penalty box and it was the moment when Ritten made the breakthrough. Oscar Ahlström fired the puck home with a man advantage for a home lead. With ten minutes to go Simon Kostner doubled the score with a great finish and it was the preliminary decision. Despite pulling Cloutier in a final push, Asiago was not able to score and Patrick Killeen earned his ninth season shutout. The series continues in Asiago on Tuesday.
