Ritten win top clash | Three games go beyond regulation

Rittner Buam SkyAlps claimed a crucial victory in the top clash on Three Kings’ Day, defeating league leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors and moving up into the top five. Three of the six games on this round required overtime or a shootout to determine a winner, with Bregenzerwald, Zell and Kitzbühel securing the extra points. Asiago and Gherdeina also celebrated victories.

League leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors suffered a home defeat against Rittner Buam SkyAlps on Three Kings’ Day. The Salzburg side made the stronger start and led 2–0 after just over ten minutes. However, the visitors from Ritten turned the game around in the middle frame, scoring three times within 20 minutes to take a 3–2 lead, with Leonardo Felicetti netting a brace. Neither team managed to add to the score in the final period. With the win, Ritten climbed into the top five of the standings.

Asiago celebrate convincing win over Hockey Unterland
HC Migross Asiago recorded a 4–1 victory over the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers on the holiday game day. After a scoreless opening period, it was Unterland who struck first. Asiago responded with the equaliser later in the middle frame. A strong final period saw the hosts pull away to a 4–1 win, further consolidating their position inside the top four.

Gherdeina prevail in Jesenice
Hockey Club Gherdeina edged out HDD Jesenice 6–5 on the road. The evenly balanced opening period ended 1–1. A brace from Matteo Luisetti then put Gherdeina 3–1 ahead, but Jesenice answered back to level the score before the second intermission. In the final period, Gherdeina moved in front once again, only for the hosts to respond yet again, before Nicolo Esposito and Luke Moncada netted the decisive goals.

Bregenzerwald edge past Wipptal in overtime
EC Bregenzerwald earned a 3–2 overtime win over the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The Broncos got off to the more efficient start, taking a 2–0 lead after the opening period. Bregenzerwald battled back in the middle frame to draw level. Following a scoreless third period, David König scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

Kitzbühel complete comeback against Meran
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel claimed a shootout win against HC Merano/o after trailing 0–3. Meran started the game strongly, building a 2–0 lead in the opening period before extending their advantage to 3–0 early in the middle frame. Kitzbühel then found their rhythm, levelling the score by the 41st minute and taking the lead ten minutes later. Meran responded once more to force overtime, but eventually fell in the shootout. Mai Crnkic recorded a three-point night for Kitzbühel, scoring two goals and adding one assist.

Zell defeat Cortina in shootout
EK Zeller Eisbären and S.G. Cortina Hafro also produced an entertaining contest that went beyond regulation time. After a high-scoring but evenly matched opening period, which ended 2–2, both teams went through a lengthy scoreless stretch. Zell finally broke the deadlock in the final period on the power play, but Cortina responded with the equaliser. Following a scoreless overtime, Max Wilfan decided the game in the shootout to secure the extra point for Zell.
