EK Zeller Eisbären were guests of the Unterland Cavaliers on Saturday. Although the home side took the lead, Mike Flanagan's team quickly turned the game in their favor - Fredrik Widen scored with a two men advantage to make it 2:1 for the visitors. It remained a top game, in which Miro Markkula managed to equalize twice for the team from Neumarkt. But in the 54th minute Tomi Wilenius scored the decisive goal to give the Zell am See team a 5:4 victory. With 24 points in nine games, the Salzburgers are currently in first place in the Alps Hockey League.

Jesenice now first chaser
First pursuer is now JDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. The Slovenians won after a hard fight at Steel Wings Linz AG. Only seven and a half minutes before the end Zan Jezovsek - the league-wide best goalgetter of the last season - scored the goal to make it 4:3. In the end the defending champions won 5:3 - so the Slovenians kept the upper hand also in the sixth duel in Upper Austria.

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan slipped to third place as the Rittner Buam SkyAlps have perfected their derby week with six points. On Saturday night, the Ritten team prevailed 4:2 in Sterzing and celebrated their second derby win in a row after the 3:2 victory against the Unterland Cavaliers. In the end, two goals from Markus Spinell made the difference in favor of the guests. The team from Klobenstein is now in fourth place.

Bregenzerwald celebrates only home win
In captain Henrik Hochfilzer's 400th appearance for Kitzbühel, the Tyroleans took the lead at Bregenzerwald through newcomer Waltteri Lehtonen. The lead held until the third period, when Richard Schlögl poked the puck over the line in power play for the equalizer. After Kitzbühel missed several chances to retake the lead, they conceded the goal on the opposite side. Roberts Lipsbergs marked the 3:2 final score in the 51st minute, the Vorarlberg team is now in fifth position.

Goal spectacle in Lustenau
The highest scoring game of the season so far took place in the Rheinhalle Lustenau. After a quick 2:0 lead for the EHC against Merano, it went into the first intermission at 4:3 for the hosts. In the middle period, the South Tyroleans managed to equalize three times, but the Vorarlberg team was still ahead 7:6 after 40 minutes. A brilliant third period with four goals gave Meran their first AHL away win in Lustenau. Calder Anderson recorded six points (2G, 4A) for the visitors.

In addition, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors won the road game against the EC-KAC Future Team 4:2. The first period remained scoreless despite a playful dominance of the Juniors. In the second period, KAC took a two-goal lead, but the guests equalized. In the final period, Salzburg, who fired more than twice as many shots on goal, secured the 4:2 away win with two more goals. The game-winner was scored by Daniel Assavolyuk in power play.
