League leader HC Pustertal first plays at the spusu Vienna Capitals, before the South Tyroleans will face Hydro Fehérvár AV19 less than 24 hours later away from home too. In addition to Pustertal, the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg are also on a roadtrip. The team from Feldkirch plays against the EC-KAC and the EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. In addition, among others, second in the table EC Red Bull Salzburg will face the Steinbach Black Wings Linz away from home, who currently have the longest winning streak with four victories in a row.

With four losses in a row lately, the spusu Vienna Capitals slipped down to tenth place in the standings. The HC Pustertal Wölfe, on the other hand, is currently tied on points with EC Red Bull Salzburg at the top of the table. In the past three games on the ice, however, the surprise team of the season so lost. Most recently only very narrowly with 4:5/SO in Villach. In addition, they got three points by the penalty-verified game against Graz. In the offense, the team from Bruneck convinces especially with their new signings. With David Morley, Jason Akeson and Alex Petan, three new signings already have ten or more points scored. Lukas Kainz is currently the Capitals' top scorer with nine points. The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg will play in Carinthia on Friday and Saturday. First, the team from “Ländle” faces the EC-KAC before they will play at the EC VSV the following day. Besides Pustertal, the Pioneers are the surprise team of the season so far. With 15 points, they currently even have one point more than the KAC. Last Sunday, the team from Feldkirch conceded its first defeat in the western derby against Innsbruck after previously winning three games in a row. The KAC has been victorious in three of the past five games, most recently with a 4:3 win at home against Asiago. In the H2H, both teams celebrated two victories each last season. With Steven Owre, the Pioneers have the top scorer and top goal scorer in their ranks. The 27-year-old Canadian, who moved from Belfast to Vorarlberg in the summer, scored 15 points (10G / 5A) so far.

After the 0:1/OT defeat in Belfast in the Champions Hockey League group stage, current champion EC Red Bull Salzburg is back in action in the win2day ICE Hockey League on Friday. The Red Bulls will face the Steinbach Black Wings Linz away from home, who were victorious 2:0 in Ljubljana just on Wednesday and celebrated their fourth win in a row. The Upper Austrians are nevertheless only in eighth place in the standings, having won just one of five games at the start of the season. Salzburg, on the other hand, has scored points in every match so far and even managed to win seven out of eight games. Graham Knott (BWL) has scored in all nine games in which he has played and is second in the top scorer rankings with a total of 14 points. On the RBS side, it is Peter Schneider who also has 14 points and has scored in all eight games so far.

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV will first face the HK SZ Olimpija on Friday away from home, before hosting the Pioneers Vorarlberg in Villach just 24 hours later. Most recently, the Eagles celebrated a 5:4/SO home win against Pustertal. Overall, the fifth-placed team in the table has won three of its last five games. Olimpija was last in action on Wednesday against Linz and lost 0:2 in front of the home crowd. It was the third defeat in a row for the Dragons, who are ninth in the table. The Slovenians had already faced Villach in the preseason. In a high-scoring match, Olimpija won 6:3. In the previous season, Villach had the upper hand in three out of four games.

The Moser Medical Graz99ers return to the ice against the HCB Südtirol Alperia. The past two games of the Styrians were scored 0:5 from the point of view of the 99ers by the legal committee of the ICE Hockey League. Due to numerous sickness-related absences, they were unable to play against both Pustertal and Linz. With three points, Graz is currently only in last place in the table. The HCB is just ahead of them in twelfth place with six points. On Wednesday, the South Tyroleans were in action in the Champions Hockey League and were defeated by the Lahti Pelicans with 3:4/OT. For Bolzano it was the fifth defeat in the fifth group game, but at least the first point win. In the ICE, they ended a three-game losing streak with a 4:1 home win over Vienna last Saturday. The Foxes won all four games against the 99ers last season.

While the HC Pustertal is already in action on Friday in Vienna, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 will play its first and only game this week on Saturday. The Hungarians managed to win five of their last six games and are in third place in the table before Friday's games, just one point behind leader Pustertal. Last season, the Hungarians celebrated three wins from four matches in the H2H with the South Tyroleans.
