Rob Daum ahead of his first Kärntner Derby

VSV head coach Rob Daum has his first Kärntner Derby coming up in bet-at-home ICE Hockey League’s 29 round Monday night, as the game EC GRAND Immo VSV against EC-KAC will be covered live on PULS 24 from 7.10 pm on. Further, leader HCB Südtirol Alperia and runner-up Hydro Fehérvár AV19 each battle on the road for top position in standings, while the spusu Vienna Capitals host newcomer iClinic Bratislava Capitals to end the losing streak at five. Moreover, the EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Dornbirn Bulldogs meet for the 50th time.

  • The duel between the two capital clubs spusu Vienna Capitals and iClinic Bratislava Capitals is now taking place for the third time in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. Both previous duels were won by the Austrians (3:1 @VIC and 7:2 @BRC).
  • Both teams currently stand at 24 games: VIC is third (41 points), BRC ranks ninth (29).
  • VIC has lost its last five games. Last it recorded a five-game losing streak in late October/early November 2018. It had more losses in a row, their seven, between Feb. 12th and Feb. 27th, 2015.
  • BRC, on the other hand, has picked up nine points in its last five games, being without a point only two days ago in Fehérvár.
  • VIC has scored an average of just one goal at home in its last five games, though it has also conceded just 2,4.
  • Bratislava's newest addition, goalie Jared Coreau, was not yet in the lineup on Friday, but he could make his debut in Vienna.

  • After Dan Ceman's debut win as head coach of the Steinbach Black Wings 1992, the Linz team is currently hosting Hydro Fehérvár AV19, the hottest team in the ICE.
  • The Hungarians, who are tied for second place with leader Bolzano, have not lost since December 8th. With currently eight wins in a row, AVS is showing its longest winning streak since joining the league.
  • AVS has conceded an average of just one goal in its last four games, even scoring four per game.
  • A nearly identical goal differential is also evident in the two meetings so far this season: AVS won 3:1 at home and 4:1 on the road.
  • AVS is still five goals short of becoming the first team - albeit with 27 games already played - to score 100 goals on the season.

  • Two teams with a different form curve meet each other in Salzburg: EC Red Bull Salzburg, recently defeated three times in a row, receives the Dornbirn Bulldogs, which won the past four.
  • The Vorarlberg side is currently fifth in the table (37 points), while the Salzburg team is seventh (33), although they have played three games less.
  • Salzburg has weakened offensively recently, scoring only two goals in the last three games.
  • This is the 50th duel between these two teams. RBS has won 35.
  • The lone season meeting between these two teams so far was decided by RBS in overtime (3:2) on December 11th. That, at the same time, was the last DEC loss.

  • ICE leader HCB Südtirol Alperia is stopping by at HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie. The two teams will play their third Tiroler Derby this season.
  • The two previous duels were clearly won by Bolzano (5:2 @HCI and 6:1 @HCB).
  • It is now the 35th game between these two teams, HCB has won 24.
  • HCB has won its last five games against HCI. In its last six appearances in Innsbruck, Bolzano has always scored (three wins).
  • Bolzano, which is tied with Fehérvár at the top of the table, has picked up at least one point in each of its last nine games. Sixth-placed Innsbruck picked up at least a point in five of their last six games, winning four of them.
  • HCB continues to be the best ICE team on the power play with 22.2% (HCI 16.0% | #9).
  • Innsbruck provides the two best scorers in the league with Daniel Ciampini (33 points) and Braden Christoffer (30).
  • Goalie Andreas Bernard came out big for the HCB: In his three games, he stopped 89 of the 91 shots on goal (97.8%), and twice he posted a shutout.
  • Mike Halmo is still suspended for HCB.

  • The 332nd Kärntner Derby between EC GRAND Immo VSV and EC-KAC will start at 7.30 pm - a quarter of an hour later than the other games. It will be broadcast live on PULS 24 at 7:10 pm.
  • It is the 135th meeting between these two teams since the league was founded in the summer of 2000. Klagenfurt won 71, Villach 63.
  • In the past two derbies of the season, the home team prevailed: First, KAC won 3:1, then VSV won 2:1. In total, 69 derbies have been won by the home team since the new foundation. Only in two of the last ten games the road team won.
  • In standings, KAC is in fourth place, while VSV, which arrives after two consecutive wins, is in tenth place.
  • The KAC has taken twelve of the possible 15 points from the last five road games.

  • It is the first Kärntner Derby for VSV neo-head coach Rob Daum.
