Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey tabbed Canadian center Daniel Mantenuto and re-signed Steve McParland, after the forward was Italian side’s best scorer in the past Alps Hockey League campaign. Asiago hires Canadian center
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey has filled its third import spot for the upcoming season in the Alps Hockey League with Daniel Mantenuto. The 22-year-old Canadian center comes directly from US College Robert Morris University, for which he scored 66 points in 140 games (22G | 44A). Prior to that he played two seasons with the Aurora Tigers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Meanwhile, the Italians have extended the contract with Steve McParland. The Canadian celebrated an impressive debut in Asiago, scoring 68 points (30G | 38A) in 44 AHL games - making him the seventh best scorer in the league. At the goalie position, the Italians renewed contracts with the talented Luca Stevan (23) and Rudy Rigoni (17).



Roster of Sterzing gets ready

The squad of the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan has received significantly more depth in the last few days. With the strikers Paul Eisendle, Daniel Erlacher, Tommy Gschnitzer, Tommy Kruselburger and Alex Planatscher the contracts were extended. With Rene Deluca, Johannes Gschnitzer, Michael Hasler, Alessio Niccolai and Daniel Soraruf, five young talents have also been retained for the coming season. In addition, the agreement between the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the HCB Südtirol Alperia regarding Ivan DeLuca was renewed, which allows him to play for Sterzing if he receives no or little ice time in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League.

Two Finns leave Salzburg
The two Finnish players Valtteri Meisaari and Aatu Luusuaniemi have left the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. Defender Meisaari, who played 87 games (42 points) for the Salzburg team in the last two seasons, joined Mestis-Klub RoKi Hockey, while Luusuaniemi moved to Sweden to sign with Vimmerby HC. The 21-year-old scored 20 goals and 20 assists for the "Red Bulls" in the past season.

EC Bregenzerwald gets first preseason win
The EC Bregenzerwald got its first win in the sixth game in preparation for the coming season in the Alps Hockey League. Thanks to a strong middle frame, the Vorarlberg team finally won 5:1 against the Swiss third division club EHC Bülach.

Clear win for Kitzbühel | Second loss for Feldkirch
The eagles had no difficulties at their second preseason game in Neumarkt in South Tyrol. At the HC Unterland Cavaliers from the Italian Hockey League the KEC celebrated a clear 8:3 success (4:1, 2:0, 2:2). VEU Feldkirch, had to accept a second preseason defeat. The Vorarlberg side lost to the Swiss team HC Thurgau 1:3. In front of 800 spectators, VEU was up 1-0 before conceding three goals in the final period. VEU’s lone goal was scored by Smail Samardzic.

Successful preseason opener for Lustenau
EHC Lustenau has started the preparation campaign for the new season in the Alps Hockey League with a 3:2 home win. Although the Swiss second division team EHC Winterthur had led 1-0 after the first period, the Vorarlberg team managed the turnaround with a brace from new arrival Emil Bejmo and a goal from Martin Grabher-Meier.

Both Slovenian teams lose to EC-KAC
The bet-at-home ICE Hockey League Team EC-KAC was last weekend sparring partner for the two Slovenian teams from the Alps Hockey League. Both the HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and the HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana were defeated in Klagenfurt with 2:4. Sodja and Tavzelj scored for Jesenice, Anze Ropret was responsible for the two Ljubljana goals.
