The Sabres St. Pölten, coming in as the lower-seeded team, secured a crucial home win in the first leg against MAC Budapest. The hosts struck first in the opening period, but MAC turned the game around by the 24th minute, taking a 2-1 lead. Emma McKnight netted her second of the night in the middle frame to tie things up at 2-2. With less than three minutes remaining, Lena Dauböck buried the game-winner, giving the Sabres a one-goal advantage heading into Sunday's decisive rematch in Budapest.

Budapest's second team, Budapest Jegkorong Akadémia, also suffered a tough start to the quarterfinals, falling 1-5 to regular-season champions HK PSRZ Bratislava. Despite Bratislava’s heavy offensive pressure, Budapest managed to keep the game even at 1-1 after the first period. However, the visitors kicked into high gear in the middle frame, lighting the lamp three times within just five minutes to make it 4-1. Erna Tothorva sealed the deal in the final period, setting the final score at 5-1.
