Sabres St. Pölten also came out on top in the second leg of the Final against Aisulu Almaty, capturing their seventh European Women’s Hockey League title. The Lower Austria side thus avenged last season’s narrowly lost Final.

MAC Budapest secured third place after overcoming the KSV Highlanders on aggregate. While the Highlanders won the second leg, they were unable to erase the three-goal deficit from the opening game.

Sabres St. Pölten came out strong in the Final rematch against Aisulu Almaty, aiming for their seventh EWHL title. Holding a 3:1 advantage from the first leg, Tamina Schall once again opened the scoring on Sunday – just as she had done in the first Final game. Only one minute later, Verena Haselsteiner doubled the lead for the Austrian side.

Aisulu managed to cut the deficit in the middle frame, but the Sabres played a composed third period and never allowed the title to slip away. Madison Laberge sealed the 3:1 final score, securing Sabres St. Pölten’s seventh EWHL championship.

Whether the Sabres can complete the double — adding the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League title to their EWHL championship — will be decided on April 3–4 at the AWHL Final 4 at Merkur Arena in Graz. Tickets are available here.

MAC Budapest Claims Third Place

Despite a narrow loss in the second game of the third-place series against the KSV Highlanders, MAC Budapest secured third place with a 5:3 aggregate score. Andrea Kantorova scored the only goal of the game in Kapfenberg just four minutes into the contest. Despite holding a clear advantage in scoring chances, the Highlanders were unable to find the two additional goals needed to force overtime.

Thanks to their 5:2 home victory in Friday’s first leg, MAC Budapest ultimately claimed third place in the European Women’s Hockey League.
