Sabres extend EWHL lead with victory in Bolzano

The Sabres St. Pölten celebrated a convincing 4–0 win in Bolzano on Saturday, further extending their lead at the top of the European Women’s Hockey League standings. While Bratislava triumphed in Salzburg, both Budapest teams claimed home wins against their Styrian opponents.

EVB Eagles South Tyrol – Sabres St. Pölten 0–4 (0–1, 0–3, 0–0)
St. Pölten’s Sabres strengthened their position at the top of the EWHL table with a shutout victory over third-placed EVB Eagles South Tyrol. Tamina Schall scored the lone goal of the opening period and doubled the lead midway through the second, making it 3–0 with her second of the night. Shortly after, the visitors sealed the 4–0 final score.

DEC Salzburg Eagles – HK PSZ Bratislava 1–5 (1–1, 0–1, 0–3)
Bratislava dominated their road game in Salzburg. The Slovaks opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but the hosts equalized seconds later. Laura Jancsóová restored Bratislava’s lead in the second period with what proved to be the game-winner before three third-period goals secured a clear victory.

Budapest Jegkorong Akademia – Graz 99ers Huskies 3–2 SO (1–1, 1–0, 0–1)
Budapest took an early lead against Graz after eight minutes, only for the visitors to respond immediately. The Hungarians went ahead again in the second period, but Simona Grascher’s third-period goal forced overtime. The game went to a shootout, where Rebeka Gyula converted the deciding attempt to secure the home win.

MAC Budapest – KSV Highlanders 4–3 (1–1, 1–1, 2–1)
MAC Budapest and the Highlanders delivered a thrilling back-and-forth contest. The Styrian side took the lead in both the first and second periods, but the home team answered each time. Chavonne Truter put MAC ahead for the first time with her second goal, before Lena Dauböck also completed a brace to level things up at 3–3. Five minutes from the end, Alexandra Ronai netted the game-winner. With the victory, MAC overtook the Highlanders in the standings to move into fifth place.
