Sabres St. Pölten Advance to the EWHL Final

Sabres St. Pölten have secured their spot in the European Women’s Hockey League final. The Austrian team battled their way to a 3-1 overtime victory on the road against PSR Bratislava, sealing their series win with a 4-3 aggregate score. The series-winning goal came from Hannah Tait in the 67th minute. Sabres St. Pölten will now face Aisulu Almaty in the championship series.

The Sabres entered the second leg trailing 1-2 against Regular Season Champions PSR Bratislava. However, they came out strong from the first puck drop, and Lena Dauböck put the visitors on the board early, scoring the opening goal in the 8th minute. Fired up by the lead, the Sabres kept pressing but couldn't extend their advantage right away. In the second period, Bratislava found their rhythm, and Emilia Leskovjanska tied the game at 1-1 in the 26th minute. The Sabres responded in the 38th minute when Lena Artner restored their lead, making it 2-1. With no goals in the third period, the series remained deadlocked at 3-3 on aggregate, forcing overtime. It was Hannah Tait who delivered the dagger in the 67th minute, sending the Sabres to the final with a dramatic OT winner against the favored Bratislava side.

Sabres St. Pölten will now take on Aisulu Almaty in the EWHL Final, with Game 1 set for Friday, March 21 (away) and Game 2 scheduled for Sunday, March 23 (home). Aisulu Almaty clinched their spot in the final on Saturday with a 5-4 aggregate win over the EVB Eagles South Tyrol.
