The Sabres St. Pölten continued their strong start into the European Women’s Hockey League season, earning a 2-1 home win over HK PSRZ Bratislava on Friday night.

The visitors struck first when Lucia Karkoskova found the net at 9:34 of the opening period. Just two minutes later, the Sabres responded as Anna Taciuk buried the equalizer. From there, both teams traded chances in a balanced contest. The game-winner came midway through the third period, when Hannah Obermayr scored at 46:05 to make it 2-1.

Shots on goal finished even at 21 apiece, with both teams going scoreless on the power play. With the win, the Sabres move up into the top group of the standings, while Bratislava remains at three points after two games.
